The Route to Health 2000-2015
I found this trail by chance on a visit to the area and absolutely loved it! A fantastic resource and one that really inspired me. I enjoyed lying down and looking up at the tree tops; it was magical and thank you so much for providing this excellent trail!
Visitor Review

Description: This award winning trail was recognised in Europe as an example of best practice on how to engage communities with their local woodland to improve their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Sustained for 15 years, it attracted ten of thousands of local residents by individuals and groups, working alongside artists to create artworks and placing them on a 1 mile trail at Birches Valley Cannock Chase, for all to experience. The initiative was developed and led by a strong partnership between Cannock Chase Councils arts team, (now Wellbeing - Arts and Creativity at 'Inspiring healthy lifestyles'), the Forestry Commission and Public Health divisions. With its visitor reviews sustaining an average of 5/5, the trail inspired many more schemes across the country, given its evidence in increasing physical activity.

Our Role: One of the founding and lead partners who's job it was to work both strategically and practically to engage the community and organisations, secure funds, translate the health messages, manage each annual launch event.
