Lichfield Festival is seeking new members to strength its Board.

Lichfield Festival Limited (Charity no. 512201) is one of the leading cultural organisations in the West Midlands.  Formed as a registered charity in 1981 the organisation promotes:

  • Lichfield Festival, an annual multi-arts festival lasting for 10 days in July
  • Lichfield Literature, an annual literary festival in October
  • Aspire, a Learning & Participation programme of education and community activities leading up to and culminating at each Festival

The Festival receives around 50,000 visitors annually and is fortunate to have the support of approximately 120 dedicated volunteers each year. For details of previous programmes please see

Run by a small, dedicated team, the festival looks to its Board members for support both in terms of strategy, governance, and advice from their respective fields of experience.  We welcome all candidates who are keen to support the festival’s mission; in particular those with knowledge and experience in the following areas, although all expressions of interest will be considered:

  • Marketing and communications
  • Fundraising
  • Audience development
  • Artistic planning/producing/programming

Previous board experience is not required. The festival welcomes applications from diverse backgrounds and endeavours to have diversity of origin, gender and experience reflected in the board.

Board members are expected to attend 4-6 board meetings a year, typically starting at 7pm in Lichfield, as well as some events in each festival. Overnight accommodation with local hosts, plus some travel expenses can be provided for those coming from further afield. Lichfield is 16 miles from Birmingham.
